Turn her for a trip?

For DD's birthday (on Monday) we're taking the kids to Great Wolf Lodge. We leave tomorrow AM, it should be about a 4 hour drive. Today on the way home from gymnastics DD told me she wanted to ride "like DS" for the trip.

She totally still fits in the Radian. She has crazy long legs, and suffered some cramps last time she rode RF long distance, BUT now she'll be in a captains chair so it might be better.

I figured I could try to install the Regent in the 3rd row, just so that if it was a problem I could move her easily (rather than re-install the Radian). Or I could install a RF seat in the 3rd row and just sit in the other captains chair myself.

Or is it not worth the effort? I kind of might, just so I can have a pic of her RFing on her 6th Bday :p

Honestly, I would go ahead and turn her. BUT take a pic of her in her seat rfing before you do :)

At 6 though, even with room to grow, I would be totally fine turning if she asks. Bitter sweet for mama though.

So just to clarify, she is riding FFing now, and wants to take the trip RFing? As long as she still fits within the height/weight limits of the seat, I say go for it. Just be prepared to turn her FFing if she finds she is getting uncomfortable. Maybe a shorter test run RFing to see if she can manage it before the long trip?

Have fun at GWL, our family loves it!

Edit - I just saw you're leaving in the morning, so no time to make a test run of it. Hopefully the captains chairs will help with any cramping.

Yes, sorry, she's FFing, and has been since she hit 35lbs. She asked to be RF for the trip.

Eta:she loves RF on short trips.

OK, so I have the Radian and a classic MA installed in the captains chairs, and the Regent installed in the 3rd row with LATCH so that I can have the 40 folded down so that she can get in. Only a true car seat nerd will have 3 seats installed for 2 kids...

In the event that DD's legs hurt (her legs are crazy long; she's 45" with a 16" torso) or DS gets car sick (it's a strong possibility, with the Marathon habig higher sides than he's used to) I can move her to the Regent semi easily.

And regardless, I'm totally taking pictures.

Sure, why not, if you have a seat that can accommodate her RF? I think installing the Regent in the third row just in case is a great icea.

We're on our way, and she's so excited! She keeps asking her brother how much he loves facing this way (and he looks at her like sure nuts, because he doesn't know any different).

It attached. :) That MA looks like it has magic legroom! :p And have a blast at Great Wolf!!

The MA does have magic legroom in the T&C! Seriously, I get that DS has crazy short legs, but he can BARELY touch the seat flat footed. It's nuts.

I'm happy to report that a 4+ hour drive, and DD RFed the whole time. We stopped at a rest stop about an hour before we got to Mason, and I thought she would ask to sit in the Regent. She thought about it, but decided she likes the red seat the most!

Now to decide if I should leave her like this (probably not, honestly).
