Turbobooster as travel seat for 4 1/2 year old?

My DD is 4 1/2, weighs about 31 pounds and is about 40 inches tall (i.e. extremely tiny). She rides in a Radian 65 on an everyday basis and we used to travel with a Cosco Scenera since it's lightweight and cheap - I wasn't worried if it got dirty. Our Scenera just went out of code last month and we are traveling next month. I was thinking of buying a high back Turbobooster as our travel seat since we'll get more use out of it when she does finally outgrow the Radians. We travel about 1-2 times per year so she wouldn't be using it frequently.

Does this sound like an ok plan?

I'm not really comfortable with a booster for children under 40 lbs. Depending on where you're traveling to, it might also be illegal. And you can't use a booster on the plane, and she's really too small to safely use just the seat belt on the plane, so I wouldn't be thrilled about it from that standpoint either.

By "out of code" do you mean that the Scenera has expired?

I would sooner pick up an Evenflo Maestro to replace the Scenera, if it needs to be replaced. It's also cheap and since she's so petite it will last her a good long time; tons longer than the Scenera.

Thanks for the tip. I was not familiar with the Maestro and that looks like a better option for us. I guess I was uncomfortable with the idea of putting her in a booster, which was why I posted the thread. I think this will make me feel much better.
