RSTV questions

Does the small RSTV fit smaller kids well? It says it is rated for children from 30 to 60lbs. Does it fit kids at the lower range well?

At what age would you suggest an RSTV for a child who is already forward-facing? Parents will not consider rear-facing even though they know why it is so much safer.

It fits my 36 pound kid fine, but I've seen photos of similar sized kids where it doesn't seem to fit well. I would not recommend the rstv as a main restraint, though and especially not for a kid who is not booster aged.

I'm specifically thinking of suggesting the RSTV as a travel seat. My BIL and SIL will be traveling on a plane with my nephew in April and they have no interest in traveling with a car seat on the plane. Instead of checking a car seat, I'm wondering if I should point out the RSTV as an alternative to taking a car seat. My nephew would be 2 1/2 years old at the time and definitely over 30lbs.

The minimum age for the rstv is 3 years. Maybe the Safety 1st Go would be a good option? It pops up on nobetterdeal every now and then.

Thanks! I didn't think the RSTV would work for a 2yo. I'm going to share a little bit of information with my SIL about traveling with car seats and suggest she come here to ask for more information. My BIL has already said he doesn't want to drag a car seat through the airport.
