1990 Mustang GT 5.0

This is my brother's car. He's expecting a little one in June. He doesn't think a rf car seat will work at all in his car. An 8 year old needs to go in the back seat, and room for mom to ride in the front. I haven't seen his car in person to know.

So does anyone have experience installing in this car? Will a rf seat work and still allow room for the others? Or does he need to look into a new car? I told him I'd look at his car and see, but I don't know when I'll have that chance and he has received a couple offers from people wanting to buy it from him.

We have a newer one but I doubt the back seat is much bigger in the old one, if at all. We can put a next gen britax @ 30* and I can just barely sit in front of it-and I don't feel that I'm really at a safe distance from the air bag (I'm 5'6" but mostly torso and less leg). With the driver seat in position for dh (6'2"-long legs, less torso) the seat behind him is not usable at all because there's only about 2 inches between the back of the driver seat and the front edge of the back seat. If he is shorter the 8 yo *might* be able to squeeze back there in a lbb and baby could go behind mom (if she's super short) but they will not be able to erf and the mom will still be eating the dash. I doubt the 1990 had airbags but I don't think it's optimal to be that close to the dash and windshield either. So, basically they will have to compromise safety for everyone except the driver and it's not a super safe car to begin with. If its possible for him to buy something more practical for family life, that would definitely be the way to go.

A new car needs to be on the list unfortunately. DH has had numerous mustangs, mostly the foxbody style (like the '90), and we have crammed a snugride 22 (no base) in an emergency, but the front passenger was pretty slammed up to the dash.

DH has a '93 convertible mustang, it does not have airbags. It's a tiny back seat I think we put a baseless infant seat in the back once otherwise we've only used a FF convertible. I couldn't imagine trying to load a kid in RF without the top down. A newer car would be best.

Okay. That's what we were afraid of. DH has a mustang, but it's an '01, so completely different style. We can manage a TF in his backseat, though it's a PITA. And there's room for me behind him but it's tight. An 8 yo would be fine behind him, though.

Brother's gf has a car that will work better, but he absolutely can't drive it (he has to have interlock and doesn't want to burden her with it). His main concern is bringing them home from the hospital, which I suppose they could try to find someone else to transport them. But she works, so he'll also be home alone with baby and 8 yo often. I think they're doing opposite shifts, so he needs a safe option for at least the 3 of them. He's tall, so I'm guessing his seat is pretty far back.
