Normal for a 8 mo baby soon to outgrow Keyfit by height?

IME/IMO, most kids make it a bit past 8mo, but I am not surprised that a tall 8mo is close to outgrowing it.

8 months?

My tall almost 14 month old still fits, however his short brother has a longer torso and will outgrow it first.

I find it taller than the SR22, but not by a whole lot. It's certainly one of the shortest of the 30 pound seats. Laine outgrew it maybe a couple of months ago? She outgrew the SR22 by weight and height just before she turned two, the Keyfit by height another month later or so. I'm sure she'd still fit in a SR35 or an onBoard 35.

*mumbles* gotta get a new infant seat or just stick her in the Radian permanently...

What do you guys do in the winter with the cold with that age?... I'm an avid babywearer. Her mom is the same way but not as avid as me :D

How cold is "cold"? We get down to -40 plus windchill here and I did a fleece snowsuit, and then to carry to and from the car I would wrap baby in blankets. My first was 7 months old when we put her in the Radian, in January (which is the coldest month here).

Whoa not that cold!! Here tends to get down to 30ish... I'm always cold so 60 degrees could feel like 40 degrees for me. I hate cold :) Need to move to like Arizona!

I never used an infant seat. In 30 degrees you put a blanket or jacket around them, take it off, buckle them in, and cover them with it. Then when you get them out you put the jacket or blanket around them.

Or, if they're Laine, you carry the jacket around until she's shivering and she finally agrees to wear it.

LOL, I know most of the US doesn't get quite that cold. At 30ish a fleece snowsuit or jacket and hat/mitts should be fine.

My son outgrew his by 9 months but he is 33" and 31lbs at 19 months old and was 11lbs 21inches at birth!

I loved the keyfit while it lasted! Very handy for New England winters

Wasn't it the Shuttle 33 that fryfightermomma used with Joseph when he was too tall for the other? I suggest trying that.

Also, a 1 layer fleece snowsuit is good. Look at Lands End, Columbia, etc. Although we used that in the convertible seat. It just didn't seem like there was room for that in the infant seat. In the infant seat we used just regular clothes, hat and a car seat cover. A blanket over baby inside it if it was really cold.

Update: decided to ditch the Keyfit for now... and have a wool wrap and Radian80SL...

Decided after battling to get through on the day after Christmas shopping, lugging the 16lb kid and the seat... (didn't have a stroller and the mall strollers were ALL out!) And telling people to watch out or move like every 5 seconds? I left my wrap and sling at home and I was wishing at that moment I had it with me and that just cinched my decision. The keyfit is in the car though for church and etc but shopping, its a wrap and a warm baby on me!

On my faithful sidekick :) Don't text and drive... It may save a life!

Yes, Phoenix is going to be in the high 60's today and tomorrow, then the mid 70's the rest of the week! I'm happy because we are going to take the kids to the Fiesta Bowl Parade so it shouldn't be super cold like it was last year. It was freakishly cold for Phoenix last year and I remember having Nour and Zain bundled up in heavy winter coats and sitting in the Bundle Me in the BOB to watch the parade!
