accident in the news

This is a horrible car accident that has been in our news since yesterday.

The thing I can't get over is there were 9 people in the vehicle (I'm assuming it should hold 6 at the most). Of the 5 that were killed, 3 are kids. I can't believe the media has not said anything about having too many people in the car, lack of seatbelt use, etc.

I think this is even more of a tragedy since maybe it could have been prevented with proper restraint usage.

Here are all of us on this board stressing about car seat installation and rear facing limits and such when others can't even put a seatbelt on their kids. It's so upsetting that people pack into vehicles with no regard for anyone's safety. I see it all the time here and it just disgusts me.

Ok, that's my vent...just wanted to share.

tragic.

the media stated the facts as a news report, which they are supposed to (8 people in car, seatbelt use was being investigated). if the news story included comments about "too many..." or "should have been wearing..." which weren't actual quotes from eyewitnesses or authorities on the scene, then it would amount to biased editorializing. a more appropriate place to give an opinion on car safety i this case would be the op/ed page, where anyone can write in an opinion on a news story.

:( I saw that on the news... I also saw right after that (totally unrelated to the previous story) the Mitsubishi dealership is giving away no back boosters. (Channel 3)... It is a nice idea and all, but I am concerned that they will not be used correctly.

sorry to go off subject but it looks like you live out here too and I was wondering if you caught that?

My dad was telling me about this story yesterday (he lives in Scottsdale). What a sad tragedy for all the families.
