Booster recommendations?

Hi everyone,

Looks like I will be booster seat shopping soon.my older son is near the shoulder strap limit of his marathon, which seems okay as my younger son is almost near the limits of his roundabout and so can move into the marathon. My older son is turning 5 in a month, weighs about 46 pounds and is mature enough, I think, to sit properly in a booster.

We'll need two boosters, one for a subaru outback wagon (2007} and one for a mazda 5 (2008}.
Do you have any recommendations? I'm looking at the britax parkway but am open to other suggestions.
Also, do you know if it's safe to put a booster seat in the back row of a mazda 5?

Thanks for your help!

Hi, :)

When will your Marathon expire? Just curious because you said your oldest child is 5 years old.

Other nice boosters include the Monterey by Diono (formerly Sunshine Kids), and the Graco TurboBooster. The Clek Oobr is also quite nice, but very expensive.

The seatbelts in the 3rd row of the first generation Mazda 5's can be annoying with car seats and boosters. You can definitely do a Search on the board to read more about it, and see what seats people have had success with. As always I think it's important to try before you buy if at all possible. I think this is especially important with boosters whenever humanly possible.

Thanks for those ideas, Angie. I did not realize that Diono was Sunshine Kids formerly (shows how long it has been since I've done this sort of research!).

The Marathon was manufactured in late 2008 (I think November if I recall correctly; I can't look at my car right now). Providing he still fits height-wise, that should get my younger son to almost age 4.5 (assuming a 5 year expiry; need to double check that). . . .

Do you think in this situation a booster is a way to go? Financially that's all I want to put out right now, but maybe I should get something that converts in case I need to but DS2 in a harnessed seat as opposed to a booster 2 years from now . . . .

Thanks for your help. Happy Holidays!
