First off how long are Frontier's good for?

DH is getting a bonus and we were thinking of getting a Frontier85 for DS with part of it. We wouldn't use it till he's 2 for in DH's truck (we make it work now but I'm not super comfortable with how the set up in the truck is). We plan on RFing him till he's 2 in there but till 3 in my car. I'm just worried when it comes May if we don't get it now we won't have the money to buy one. Would you just wait and hope you have the money or get it now?

Why not just FF him in the seat that is in there?

I would put the money in a "car seat savings account." Or, if you are afraid you'll spend it, buy a "Car seat certificate of deposit" so you can't spend it. Project about how long your child will be using his current car seat, and date the maturing date on the CD to about six months before then to give you some wiggle room.

His sister will move into his RFing CA that's in the truck. The issue in the truck is her bucket, or any RFing seat behind my seat. The CA fits perfectly center. So she'd move there and we'd put him in the Frontier behind me.

What would you do?
