Cosco Scenera height requirement (airplane install)

Hi. This is my first post, so please bear with me if I'm in the wrong place!

We are taking my 18 month DS on a trans-pacific flight soon. He has his own seat on the plane. At home he rides rear-facing in a Britax Boulevard (my car) or Roundabout (DH's car). I had read all about how the Cosco Scenera was such a fabulous lightweight airplane seat and so bought one for the trip. Every pound counts when hauling gear!

However, I talked to the airline we are flying on (Singapore) and they do not allow rear-facing seats. I figured we would just FF for the flight. But reading the Scenera manual, it says that DS nees to be a minimum of 34" tall to FF. DS is 32" and 25 lb. Now I'm concerned that the Scenera will not work on the flight.

Any advice? Is there another super-lightweight easy to install carseat out there that can FF DS for this flight? Should I just suck it up and haul the Roundabout around (I don't think the Roundabout has a height minimum for FF)? Or does the height thing not really matter for an airplane install?

We are leaving next week so I need to figure this out soon! Thanks.

You could call Dorel, but I'm guessing technically even on the plane the minimum height limit applies. In all reality, since the main purpose of the seat is just to keep your child contained/restrained, I'd guess the seat will still work even when your DS is a little less than the minimum height. (And FWIW, I believe Canadian Sceneras don't have that same minimum height.)

If you're really wanting to follow the 34" minimum, you could use the RA or get something like the Maestro that has a much lower FF height limit.
