How do you approach those selling expired/close to seats?
We're going to a big neighborhood yard sale on Saturday, and I'm sure to come across at least one.
Do you just pay them?
Do you try to explain why it's bad to sell them, then pay them?
Do you explain, and then leave, and hope they won't put it back out after you've gone on?
Not say anything, and just hope no one buys it (you know I can't do that one!)
I've bought one seat off Craigslist (infant seat that expires at the end of the year); I explained the whole thing, talked about seats for her sons, etc (even wore my tech shirt, as I was coming from a seat check, so she knew I was legit, not some person wanting a free car seat ), and was really hoping she would just give it to me, but she still made me pay for it (the direct quote was "you don't expect me to donate it, do you?" ) She was selling it for $7, I gave her $5.
So anyway, what do I do at an actual yard sale? I can't talk to every person, or even one person for a long(-er-ish) time, as it's usually a packed event.
Tips?
