Expiration date related to ffa question

So I was just looking for the ffa sticker on my uptown (I found it) and noticed on the back was printed do not use after dec 2014. Well my seat was manufactured in dec of 06, so does that mean they're giving 8 year expiration dates now at cosco??

Different manufacturers set different expiration dates for their seats. Britax has a six year cut-off. Some manufacturers, such as Dorel (read Cosco), have given some of their seats an 8 year expiration date.

This again emphasizes how important it is to read through the owner's manual. Follow what it says in the manual for the seat you are using regarding maximum length of use or expiration date. A seat may also have an expiration date stamped into the plastic molding. You may also use this date for determining expiration.

My AOEs have an 8 yr expiry. I think they always have.

I think the original A/Os could only be used 6 years, which was one of the criticisms of the seat: how can it be the "only seat you'll ever need", if it can only be used 6 years?

I'll have to double-check my AO's (one purchased 2001, the second in 2004) -- I thought they were both 6 years, which would agree with Ulrike's comment...

My sister's Uptown is the same way. She brought it to me to show her how to install it and I checked the Exp. date. I was surprised.
