I was having a really bad day and was really bummed. Then I got a call back about the GN I was selling. I went to meet the lady and she had a TINY 13 month old in an infant carrier. I really needed to sell the GN but it felt so wrong to sell it to be used for a little baby who should be RFing. I set up the seat with the infant padding on the bottom slots for her but then got the courage to say something about RFing. I explained why RFing is safer and she was receptive. She was a first time mom and wanted to learn more so I told her about this c-s.org . I showed her that her daughter still had about 2 inches to grow in her carrier (about 3 inches over her head) and she said she wanted a new seat because there was no leg room in the carrier and her daughter was getting heavy. I suggested she just leave it in the car instead of carrying her and to buy an inexpensive convertible to use for atleast the next year. She had no idea what a convertible was so we went to my van and I showed her the MA70 and Tribute. We tried both in her car and the Tribute was a easy install (so was the MA70 but it was out of her price range.) She wanted to go buy one at the Walmart across the street but only had $30 if she were to buy the GN from me so I offered her my Tribute for $30 if she bought both seats. She was thrilled and took both. I was thrilled because I was able to sell my GN for a great price and her baby was going to be RFing for another year (I doubt she will RF longer than that but she wanted to follow the 2 yr guideline at least.) Then I went to Walmart and bought a new Tribute. I figured it cost me about $10 to get the new Tribute but I got $80 for the GN so it would have been like getting $70 which is what I was hoping for.
So long story short. I kept a baby RFing and sold my extra seat. I am now half way to buying ds2 his blue Monterey.
