Question Is my CA65 defective?

The foot that pops out for FF mode doesn't stay locked. For example, when I pick the seat up to take it out of the car, the foot just falls out and swings to RF mode. This is the only seat I've had with a foot like this, so I don't know if it's normal or not.

Yes, I am able to push it up and get it in, but it just falls right out. But I guess this is normal for the regular 65 (flutter) version?? I haven't tried messing with it while actually installed...

All my dorel flip-footed seats have done that. I have has 2 sceneras, 1 avenue, 1 ca. When they are installed the foot is loocked in place. It falls out when you pick it up because of gravity :) but it never bothered me. I wouldnt consider it a defect. I am sure more than one lay-person has had that happen and realized "oh so that is supposed to fold in for RF" or vise versa.

LOL! I remember fighting with MIL's Regal Ride (precurser to the Scenera) trying to figure out how to dislodge that foot to use it RF. Of course she didn't have the manual. My Scenera is like that too, it locks pretty solidly in FF mode. Interesting that some don't lock at all, and good to know that it's "normal".

The problem is that mine once folded in when I took the car seat out. Since I hadn't put the foot away, I didn't think about pulling it back out when I went to reinstall the seat. I got the seat in tightly, but it would loosen really easily. DD rode with it like that for a long, potentially hazardous road trip (Central Oregon to the coast in early March) before I realized why the seat kept loosening. Anyway, of course now I'm careful to keep that foot down when installing it FFing, but the potential for misuse is pretty high due to that stupid thing.
