Apple has determined that, in very rare cases, the battery in the iPod nano (1st generation) may overheat and pose a safety risk. Affected iPod nanos were sold between September 2005 and December 2006.

Columbia Sportswear Recalls Omni-Heat™ Lithium-Polymer Rechargeable Batteries Sold With Jackets Due To Fire Hazard. Sold by: Columbia online retail for $79. The recalled battery packs were included with the jackets sold by Columbia online retail and outdoor and sporting goods dealers nationwide from July 2011 to September 2011 from $900 to $1200.

The J.M. Smucker Company today announced a limited voluntary recall on two specific Best-If-Used-By dates of 16 oz. Smucker’s® Natural Peanut Butter Chunky because it may be contaminated with Salmonella. This product was distributed in: Arkansas, Colorado, Delaware, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, Texas, Virginia, Wisconsin, and the District of Columbia.

Products include: Ready Pac Caesar Romaine, Ready Pac Santa Fe Caesar Complete Salad, Ready Pac Classic Caesar Complete Salad, Ready Pac Bella Romaine, Dining In Classic Caesar Salad Kit, Raley’s Caesar Romaine, Trader Joe’s Romaine Salad, Trader Joe’s Very American Salad, Safeway Farms Caesar Romaine, Safeway Farms Hearts of Romaine, Safeway Farms Complete Caesar Supreme, Safeway Farms Complete Southwestern Ranch. The recall extends only to the listed products with this Use-by Date and sold in the following states: Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Oregon, Texas, and Washington.

Divina Stuffed Olives, because they have the potential to be contaminated with Clostridium botulinum. Divina Olives Stuffed with Blue Cheese were distributed to the following states: Alaska, Washington, Oregon, California, Arizona, Nevada, South Dakota, Colorado, Wyoming, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Washington DC through the following retail stores: Genuardis, Carrs, Safeway, Pavilion and Vons. United Natural Foods, Inc. today announced a correction to its previously announced recall of selected types of Gentes Foods Gordita Black Bean Tortillas, specifically to correct the previously stated date code of 12 7 11 to the revised date code of 11 6 11. United Natural Foods, Inc. is recalling this product dated 11 6 11 because it has the potential to be contaminated with Clostridium botulinum. Gentes Foods Gordita Black Bean Tortillaswere distributed to the Safeway and Pak N Save stores in California

CooperVision announced today that it is expanding its worldwide recall of the Avaira brand product line of contact lenses to include a limited number of lots of Avaira Sphere contact lenses. CooperVision is expanding the recall because it identified certain lots of Avaira Sphere lenses that did not meet its updated quality requirements due to the level of a silicone oil residue.
