If they want a crash-tested solution for lap belts (assuming they are safely installed lap belts) they need to think installing tether anchors and using 86-y harnesses, if shoulder belt retrofits won't work and the kids are too big for even larger car seats (like the Frontier...)

I'll let someone else tackle that though. ;)

I would allow my kids to ride like that in a wheelin' vehicle. Go ahead, flame away. But you're not going high speeds with you kids in those things, your going over roads rounds on mountains. You're basically just keeping the child held in place.

I would not allow it for street driving though. Not even to get to the destination. So I guess I'd be trailering my wheelin' vehicle to get there.

The vehicles they're talking about are generally not street vehicles.
