belt damage, mighty tite and car seats with belt tensioners

Having read all the posts here and elsewhere about the mighty tite...
I had one of these for my DD1 (now almost 11yo)...I liked it - I found it very difficult to fit (any) seat without movement without it....and it didn't seem to cause any damage to my seat belt...however...
Now looking for a seat for DD2...I see now some seats are available with belt tensioners ... just wondering if these can also damage your seat belt...would that be covered in the crash tests for the seats?
(also read a review of one seat where the integral tensioner failed leaving the parent without any means of securing the car seat into the car...)

Many seats have lock-offs to hold the seatbelt tight, but only one seat on the US market has a built-in tensioner, and that's the Summer Infant Prodigy infant seat.

When I played with the seat at a conference, I was able to overtighten the seatbelt by about 6 inches with the tensioner. Granted, that was not a scientific experiment, so take it for what it's worth.

Crash testing will not determine whether long-term damage is done to a seatbelt.

With that particular seat, you still need to lock the seatbelt (at the latchplate or the retractor), and you can choose to bypass the tensioner. So in that case, if the tensioner broke you could still install the seat.

Thanks -
I'm in the Uk and was looking at Maxi Cosi seats - the Tobi and Priori Xp both have tensioners ...wasn't really looking at different makes - because I had a standard Priori with DD1 and it was fantastic (it didn't need the mighty tite in my car -that was with the other seat in partner's car)
I will get it fitted properly -but always like to research before I stand in the shop and feel hassled...(stupid!)
Thinking of just going for the basic (and cheaper) Priori then - interesting to see if in the future peole start complaining about these seats ruining their seat belts too...
