Premium LATCH connectors vs. traditional ones... preferences?

I tried to search for this and it didn't turn up what I was looking for, but apologies if this has been discussed before.

I'd never experienced installing a seat with the "premium" style LATCH connectors until the other day when I had to transport my niece and a friend's child. My friend's seat had the premium connectors. I found it extremely difficult to get a conncetion with the premium connectors. I almost gave up and used the seatbelt! I found them slightly easier to disconnect than the connectors on our Nauti, but not much. So this leaves me wondering - what is the intended premise behind the premium connectors. Is it for ease of connection/disconnection? Is anyone else with me that they are not that much easier, or do people generally prefer them?

FWIW, I think the difficulty in connecting them was the way I have to access the LATCH points in my Forester. You kind of have to go around the fabric to the side and then back over (sorry if this makes no sense). I guess I might find it easier with the traditional LATCH connectors because I can get it around the fabric, over to the side, to the back back, then pull forward onto the LATCH point all with one motion. Maybe it's because with the shape of the traditional connector I can feel where it's going a little better? So in another car it could be easier I suppose.

I've only used the ones on my Britax seats and my Radian, until I had to uninstall the Evenflo seat my mom has, and yeah, I wanted to track down whomever invented the Evenflo latch hooks and lob dirty diapers at his head. It may be my arthritis issue, but I've never had the slightest problem with Britax's latch connectors (SK's are new to me but so far no problems--regular latch, not superlatch)--is that what you mean by "premium"? That's definitely the kind I prefer! The kind on my mom's ETA (it's the older one, from several years ago, so maybe they've changed them) made me want to cry.

I find that when the LATCH anchors are buried in the bight, I prefer the standard hook-type connectors because you can dig around in there more.

For easily accessible anchors, either one is fine.

For unhooking, I much prefer the premium connectors.

See, I prefer the Premium ones for buried hooks because I can shove the whole thing in there easier and eventually they catch. I HATE the other kind. It sounds like you have kind of a special situation where the other ones work better.
