Could someone check a few latch limits for me?

DN is 37lbs (without a coat) and I wanted to check if his BLVDs in his parents' cars need to be switched to belt soon. One is a Ford Focus - probably early 2000s. Other is a Rav4, maybe 2-3 yrs old. BLVDs are BLVD65s, not next gen 70s.

Also, FR85 is going in IL's cars for him. MIL has an acura sedan, not sure which one but it's smaller and sporty. I'm guessing around 2005. Seat will likely be in this car. FIL has a Subaru Outback that is only a year old. (The one that is between the Forester size and the Tribeca size). I'm fairly certain Subaru is 60# total, right? So if the FR is 23# and DN is 37#, that definitely needs the belt.

THANKS!!!! Someday I'll have my own latch manual:) I'll check their owners manuals too but just incase.

Acura is 40. Subaru is 60 total, weight of child plus seat. Ford is 48. Toyota defers to the carseat manufacturer, and Britax says assume 40 unless you know that it is otherwise.

So, the FR needs to be seatbelted in both the Subaru and Acura?

The BLVD is OK for now the Ford and Toyota? (I read that Britax was 48 unless the car was lower?)

And, my FRs are also OK in my 06 Sienna latched for now (DS is 36#).

I keep forgetting to switch DS's radian in DH's 03 subaru.

One more thing...If Superlatch can work up to 80 pounds in any car that is 2005 and newer, then why can't I latch a FR up to 48 pounds in FIL's new Subaru? If the subaru could take 80 from a SL radian, why can't it take 48 from a Britax with a 48# limit? KWIM?

That's right, Britax's limit is 48, and they also instruct you to find the vehicle's limit, but assume the vehicle's limit is 40 if you can't find it.

He needs to be seatbelted now in the Subaru. He has 3 pounds until he needs to be seatbelted in the Acura and Toyota (going by Britax's rule of assuming 40 for the vehicle unless the vehicle specifies otherwise). He has 11 pounds in the Ford.

Different seats have different crash performance. So while the Radian might not put much force on the anchors (relatively speaking), a Britax might put twice as much force even with a lighter child. Or it might not. We don't know. And as much as SKJP/Diono might claim otherwise, vehicle LATCH limits don't disappear just because they want them to.

Thanks. I'm only going to teach my IL to install with seatbelt. And I'll talk to BIL about getting his seat changed in the Toyota. And I will take care of my own cars.
