max weight for latch in 2005 Grand Caravan and 09 Sonata

Is the max weight for latch install in a 2005 grand caravan. Is it 40lbs or 48lbs? It has the stow and go seats if that makes any difference.

What about a 2009 Hyundai Sonata?

I've been calling dealerships etc and sending out e-mails and so far, the only answer I've gotten is "there is a weight limit???" So far the people I've spoken to have no idea.

DD is 38 lbs so I'm just trying to figure this all out. :)

It's 48 lbs. (this is the child's weight) for all Dodge/Chrysler vehicle models. Hyundai doesn't specify a LATCH weight limit and you need to follow the carseat manufacturer's instructions regarding the LATCH weight limit in the Sonata.

Thanks!

So, for the Sonata, I can keep my kids in their 5ft harness using LATCH all the way to 65 lbs as long as my car seat says it is OK?
Radian XT I think is OK using LATCH to the upper weight limit right?

I'm not sure about my 2008 Marathon... I guess I'll have to go read that manual when the time come... for some reason I think I have to use the seat belt after 40lbs with but I have some time since this seat is still RF with my 26 lbs 22 month old.

Most circa 2008 Marathon manuals (starting around spring 2008, IIRC) indicate lower LATCH anchor installations are allowable up to the car manufacturer's weight limit or to assume it's 40 lbs. if the vehicle manufacturer doesn't specify a limit. U.S. non-SL Radians specify lower LATCH anchor installation weight limits of 48 lbs., not sure if that's also applicable to Canadian Radian XTs or not, though, but your Radian XT's manual should specify the LATCH limit for certain.

So I have a question - if I'm flipping DS ff at 45lbs in his radian, do I bother with the latch or just go straight for the seat belt? (That's what this conversation means, right?)

Right, it's about whether or not lower LATCH/UAS anchors can be used instead of installing with the vehicle seatbelt. Whether or not you can use lower LATCH anchors/UAS at 45 lbs. would depend on your specific vehicle and its LATCH weight limit. Some vehicle manufacturers have LATCH install limits below 45 lbs., such as Honda which states a 40 lb. limit for using LATCH, for example. If you post back with your vehicle model and what LATCH limit your Radian manual specifies, we can help sort it all out. And whenever in doubt, a seatbelt installation is always an option. :)
