Any word on compliant Chicco?

I think TJ Kids had advertised 2012 compliant Keyfits? No clue about changes... lots of places are using old stock photos for the compliant seats.

FYI - the KF has always and does meet the requirements of the updated Canadian standards.
Ah okay, so no new changes for 2012 then. Too bad, I was kind of hoping they'd have to change something which would also make it possible for us to get the 30# weight limit.

Just my opinion but I'll bet that as more and more 30 lb rated infant seats come to the Canadian market, there will be increased pressure on all the CR manufacturers to keep up with the trend. Not sure what modifications that would require but competition can be a beautiful thing sometimes.

Yup, I agree. I wonder why Graco was the only one for so long. I'm glad we're seeing more now.

So I just thought of this. If Chicco has always been compliant with the new standards, that means I can legally sell my Keyfit when I am done with it!

Depends on if it was actually labelled/tested etc to new standards when they certified it. There were seats which apparently met new standards, but they've been replaced by different SKN's that are clearly identified as 2012 compliant in the computer.

I guess you could call Chicco and ask them? I know that they did stop production for Canada though and then re-started it and brought it in as 2012 compliant. So whether it was an "official" change or what, I'm not sure. I would have to guess that the old run of seats was still being tested on the old bench and they just knew that it met new standards from testing they'd done - but that in terms of compliance they were certifying it on the old bench with the old dummies. (Not sure if I'm making sense - but when they put the NSM on a seat, they are certifying that it meets CMVSS standards. If they were doing compliance testing to the old standard then that could be the reason they stopped and switched. :shrug-shoulders: In other words - just because they knew it met new standards doesn't mean they were applying the NSM based on new standards.)
