DD is 9 months and right now still in her chaperone, we're hoping to get a convertible soon right now we can put any type of coat or thin fleece on because she is literally bring stuffed in the seat (she's 21 lbs so still technically fits) but when we do upgrade what is acceptable for use in the seat ? She has a children's place 3 in 1 jacket we are only using the waterproof putter shell right now ( not the fleece combo) is this thin enough or should we still put it on or off everytime ?

A thin fleece is good. You want to avoid the puffy jackets, because they may seem like the harness is tight, but they will compress in an accident, leaving tons of room between baby and harness. I'm sure another poster can provide links or pictures demonstrating what I'm talking about.

We have the Childrens Place 3 in 1 jackets too...in the winter my kids wear just the fleece part in their car seats, and if they're going to be outside somewhere for longer than to/from car to building, we slip the waterproof layer on over the fleece once they get out of their car seats.

Thanks!! That should read "cant put anything on her" I wasnt sure if the fleece on that jacket would be too thick but that will work great the water proofshell is easy to slip right on if need be

The children's place 3-in-1 I have for DS has a fairly puffy shell for a 3-in-1. I would put the fleece on him in the carseat, but not the shell. I don't know what the shell is stuffed with--it's not a single (or welded double) layer like my 3-in-1 ski jacket. It seems to have a bit of loft.

I always get my kids the 3 in 1 coats from Walmart or Target and they use the inner fleece part in their seats. I love those coats!
