Only that the boy was sitting in one. No word on what seat or what direction it was facing. Obviously, it did its job. It's just so horrible though....they said he was conscious and screaming with his parents dead in the front seat and bystanders cut him out of his seat with a knife :(

How terrible, so heartbreaking for that entire community I'm sure.

It really goes to show just HOW important car seats are. Hopefully it will make people in that area more aware and educated on car seat safety now.

thats so sad, I hope he has someone close to him that will be there for him.

in the video the woman talks about getting the baby(2.5yo) out and needing a knife because the seatbelt was locked, so it sounds like he may have been in a booster unless she took the whole carseat out too like PO, FF, etc do when removing a child from a wreck.

I was thinking they meant the harness.

Ok, I promise I'm not armchair quarterbacking this one

In the video the woman is grabbing the seat belt and saying that it was stuck. So either he was in a booster, or like LuvBug03 said, she was trying to take the whole seat out.

OMG yeah he survived, but geez, with his mommy, daddy and brother gone. I hope he has grandparents or an aunt who he is very close too. To lose both your parents at such a critical time. That is so horrible. Poor guy. His life will never be the same. :(

That's was/is actually one of my greatest fears. Something happens to us and DD (who is terrified of strangers) is left alone and scared. That poor baby :(

This is an honest question, I'm not trying to criticize the bystanders who got him out. But if he was in fact in a booster shouldn't they *technically* have left him there? In my medical first responder class we were taught not to move someone unless danger was imminent (fire, etc). People are in such a rush to get the children out of the car/car seats and I would just be afraid to do that until paramedics arrived and stabilized his neck. However if he could actually see his parents or brother and he seemed otherwise OK I would try to get him out because of emotional trauma. I guess there's just no good answer when something like this happens. :(
