Question Hypothetically...

I was thinking about how the air protect on some dorel seats seems like such a great idea compared to eps because didn't the eps compress once to distribute forces where as the air is reusable in the sense that in a roll over it would keep on re-compressing as the head went side to side? Sorry thinking out loud! I admit I'm not too familiar with all the technical terms on how eps works but enlighten me!!

Sent from my iPod touch, sorry for any auto-correct typos!

EPS is one-shot. It has very little, essentially zero, elasticity. So in a rollover, the child receives benefit on the first two impacts, one on each side. Usually the first impacts are the most energetic so the most important to have protection.

EPP foam (black) does have high elasticity and you can squish it over and over again. I'm not sure if either the EPP or the Air Protect rebound quick enough to actually make a difference. Usually an entire crash sequence is over in 0.1-0.2 seconds, literally faster than the blink of an eye.
