Yay for New Jersey!

I was half-watching the news last night and they did a piece on teenage drivers in NJ, saying that NJ has the highest rate of teen accidents. Something like 24% of all serious accidents in the state involve teenage drivers, but teenage drivers only make up 6% of the driving population. Pretty staggering statistics, I thought.

But, NJ has a law where if a teen driver is pulled over for not wearing a seat belt (or anything else and found not wearing a belt), they automatically lose their license for 60 days.

I think this is great! Really, what would hurt a teen more than losing their license?

Anyone else hear about this?

No I hadn't heard about this, and I live here! Then again, I don't watch television LOL. I think it's a great idea to take their license for not wearing a seatbelt. Maybe it will make more kids buckle up. I wish the laws had been stricter about seatbelt use when I was a teen, as I didn't wear them at all. But, we do have fines for adults not wearing seatbelts, and I still see many people not wearing them. :(

That's good, a little punishment for stupid choices sometimes is just what a typical teen needs, maybe they should increase it to adults too?
