Flying with 6 year old need options

We are going to be taking a short weekend trip with our six year old (44" 37lb) we will be flying and need options on what to take with us. We have a GN and high back turbo (not heavy enough for the backless and we would be uncomfortable with it)

I know this may sound crazy but for the sake of not traveling with the GN we are considering buying a new diono radian rxt. Do you think that he would fit in it, he is on the second to last slot in the GN about half and inch from the slot. We like the option of it being a booster so that even after he outgrows it we can use the booster and then the convertible part for our future children until it expires.

We discussed getting a harmony backless but we ruled out the idea completely as we are not ok with him being in a backless even for the short trip.

Another option I've thought of is the ride safer travel vest but we may or may not use it again. Any thoughts on these options? Thanks in advance.

The RSTV doesn't have an expiration that I know of, so if you are talking about future kids, you could use it again later.

The Diono booster has a minimum weight of 50 pounds. If you have a six year old who is not yet heavy enough for a Turbo backless, it's going to be years before you'd get any use out of the Diono as a booster. But he should still fit in the Radian harnessed. It has 17.5" top slots, about an inch shorter than the Nautilus. So with room to go until the second to top slots, he should be ok.

You could pack the Turbo. Put the back in a suitcase and put the bottom in the overhead compartment. That way you have your high back booster with you.
