There's a RADIAN in my living room!

The Radian XT I bought from Swap arrived today, so I'm getting to know it as we speak! Ds is napping so he hasn't seen it yet, but I'm sure he'll be happy that it doesn't, in fact, look like a witch :D Dd sat in it and actually has room to grow--she's a bit under the 2nd to top harness slots.
I do have to say I am a bit intimidated about installing it, and I read Carrie R.'s Pilot thread, so I may be needing a toddler wedge.
One quick question--what is a Safe Stop? I see it mentioned on a sticker and I gather it's for forward-facing (which we're not doing anytime soon), but I have no idea what it is. Can you tell I'm a bit out of my element after years of dealing with Marathons?

SafeStop is just an extra load/motion limiting device exclusive to SKJP... it goes on the splitter plate in the back. It's used if ALL these criteria are met:

The child is forward facing
The child is under 40 pounds
The top tether is being used

If one of those isn't happening, don't use it.

I hope you guys like it! I hate installing ours, but I love it for day-to-day use!

I've had a Radian since April of 2009 and I FINALLY don't mind installing it. That only took 2 years and one CPST class. Cheery, aren't I? But seriously, it just takes some getting used to.

I have to wait until tomorrow for mine to arrive I'm hoping its not to bad to install. We had one in our tech class but we never got to play with it.

I just sold my Shadow XTSL to a friend. His 15 month old was getting a bit snug in his Keyfit 30 (the infant seat I recommended for him :D). Anyway, my friend needed it for a 3 across in his Kia Soul. His 8 year old is in a backless TB, and the 4 year-old is in a RN80. He said the new RN fits well and baby is much happier in his new seat! He needed it more than I did, so I gave it up for now!

Don't be scared! It's really not that bad, in most seating positions. :) RF is generally fairly easy, and for FF, read the thread in the 'articles' section on forward-of-bight buckles.

Do be aware that I would highly, highly recommend seatbelt in a Pilot -- I had SuperLATCH slipping issues that (despite neurotic checking at install) weren't evident until about day 3.

Thanks! This one has regular LATCH, which is why I went for it from Swap instead of one of the Amazon clearance XTSL's, but I'll try seatbelt first anyway. I'm going to to put the cover back on once ds is down for his nap, and then take my first crack at installing it. I feel like I should offer it a beer first or something.
