I've got a regular cab dodge pickup and I'm trying find out if it is possible to even put a child seat in it. Not sure if since there is no back seat can a child seat go in the right front seat? There is no passenger side air bag. Don't really want to go truck shopping but I don't want to take any chances either.

It's not ideal, but when buying a new/different car isn't an option, you can put a car seat in the front seat of a pick-up. As you said, airbags can be an issue. NEVER place a rear facing seat in front of an active frontal airbag. Push the vehicle seat as far back as it will go to keep the child as far as possible from a frontal colision (the most common type). A certified CPST can assist you with ensuring that the seat is properly installed.

I have an 88 chevy truck with a standard cab and have a britax husky and a safety 1st uptown installed in it forward facing. I would have a marathon in it but because of the base you have to put your arm on the side of the seat while you're driving and I don't like that. I actually find trucks alot easier to install in then cars because the majority have the flat bench seat which is a breeze to install seats in.

We have an older regular cab Chevy pickup, and we have put two carseats in there -- using center lap belt and outboard passenger lap/shoulder belt. We also, after some struggles with the dealership, were able to get a tether anchor kit, which we installed in the back wall of the truck cab. So, it can be done. Keep in mind that a pickup truck, especially an older pickup truck, is not an ideal vehicle for any of its occupants, safety-wise... We only put the kids in there if there is some reason we need to use the truck; otherwise we do most of our traveling in passenger cars.

Could you post a picture of the tether location in the '88 Chevy? I just bought a truck like that and I can't find a dealership that will install one. They all say they will only install in vehicles under 20 years. Thanks!
