Only for a short time hopefully. Nicholas and I were on the way to work/daycare this morning(I work in a child care center and he goes there too) and I somehow missed the curve in our road...a road I drive on at least twice a day!
I went off road, took out a mailbox(shattering our windsheild), down in a ditch, back up, across a church parking lot and over a parking bumper--all that before coming to a stop.
The mailbox and the parking bumper are the only things I hit.
He was RF in his Graco MyRide65. It WILL be replaced. It was installed RF center w/ a locked lap shoulder belt. The EMT/Paramedic had me remove him from his seat since he was doing well. I asked about him about moving his whole seat, but he said no since it was now crashed. I did have him transported---they used a "pedi-mate" on the stretcher. When they buckled him up his harness was twisted and I had them fix it. He's fine!
My neck is sore and so is my lower back. I refused treatment...figuring I was just a bit shaken up and in a bit of shock. And I didn't want to freak Nicholas out by being c-spined and then seperated from him in the ER.
So---I'm comfortable with what I likely will need to do to have his seat replaced. But, I'm not familar with what to do and how to make sure our seat belts (driver and rear center) are replaced. I checked his belt...it is still locked. When I took mine off, it retracted fine. No airbag deployment. We're mostly worried about the undercarriage of the car.
Thanks for your help!
Susan
