Is there a trick?

a friend of mine (who just as of yesterday, became a CRST---yay!) and I did a few car seat checks tonight, for a total of 6 seats. We had a good workout!

I've never had the opportunity to install a My Ride up until tonight, and it was not easy!

RF, using latch, behind the passenger. My question is, is there not a slot that you can fit your hand in to reach the UAS strap? We ended up having to feed it through the crotch strap opening to pull at a decent enough angle to get it tight..........

I've always just pulled the cover back over the cupholder area - that should give you access to the belt path so you can get good leverage for tightening. I've always found the MR pretty easy to install, and I bet you will too once you figure out the best way to tighten it. :)

I've found that mine tends to stick in the tilt lock sometimes too... it's like the strap likes to form in one place and it gets really hard to tighten OR loosen. If it's really tough to get more tight, I've had another person compress the seat so I can use two hands to pull out that last inch of slack.

Move front seat all the way forward.

Climb into backseat, standing overtop of the MR, bum in the air.

Peel cover back from cup holder.

Bring tail end of UAS strap back thru RF belt path.

Use your body weight to dig MR into/onto vehicle seat.

Pull tail end to tighten.

Re-attach cover.

Move front seat back.

In a nutshell, yes, there is a trick. :)

Also, if you have good strength between your thumb and your fingers, I just brace my thumb on the belt path while gripping the tail of the belt with my fingers and pull the belt that way.

I've always been able to get them in tight using that method. However, it's possible that I have some extra hand strength?

I don't have a MR anymore or I'd take video of the way I do it. Sounds like you had a good day with your friend. :)

I find that if I tilt mine forward the buckle doesn't slide back and get stuck on the crotch strap.
