Britax Frontier Booster-mode ?

My dd is almost 4.5 y.o, 44 inches and 42 lbs. She currently rides in a Britax Frontier 85. I just realized that I'm going to have to change the installation from LATCH to the seatbelt in our Odyssey since she's over 40lbs. :( Boo! I love LATCH and have always gotten rock solid installs! I'm anticipating it being a bit tough to get a tight install, with the seatbelt, due to the slippery leather seats. Any advice?!

Ok, my original question for posting...I plan on keeping her harnessed for as long as she'll tolerate it. BTW: she's in preschool and I cannot tell you how many kids I see, getting in/out of their cars, that are already in regular boosters. Shocks me!
Anyways, now that I have to use the seatbelt as the install, what's going to happen when we want to use the Frontier as a booster? How am I to use the seatbelt as her restraint if it's being used as the install for the seat?! Do I switch back to LATCH at that point?

Your Frontier can be LATCHed when it's outgrown in harnessed mode and switched to belt positioning booster mode - Britax allows that for the Frontier, and it's mainly to keep the booster from becoming a loose projectile when it's not occupied in the vehicle. It's allowable to use LATCH beyond Honda's limit of 40 lbs. in booster mode with a carseat that also allows it like your Frontier because the vehicle seatbelt buckled across/in front of the child in belt positioning booster mode serves as the primary restraint system. :)

You can continue to use it in 5-point harnessed mode with a seatbelt installation until she maxes it out heightwise when her shoulders go over the top shoulder harness position, or weightwise at 85 lbs., whichever comes first. Usually it's outgrown by height before weight in harnessed mode depending somewhat on the child's individual proportions. Using the long belt path seatbelt installation method typically gets a solid Frontier installation in vehicles and I'd try that method first when switching the Frontier from a lower LATCH anchor to a seatbelt install in harnessed mode.

Since the latch limit has been exceeded it should not be rode in again. Long belt path is my preferred method. I have mine installed leather seats also. This video shows the installation. It helped me a lot when I got our frontier.
