Safety first signature/apex question

I just received the safety first signature seat today. From what I understand it is the same as the Apex. I have not seen anywhere in the manual that says the seat needs to be used with a headrest. I am confused. I have the headrest of the van on (toyota sienna 03) but the seat actually fits better against the seat without it....HELP me figure this out...thanks!

double check again, it should be in a red box that says warning.

That would be awesome though if that one was different, cause that's the one downfall of that seat! But I don't see how it could be

Well, there needs to be actual seat behind the child's head. Because the Apex itself is not reinforced. SO....if your child is short enough to have seat behind their head withOUT the head rest, you would be okay. But, if the child's head (the midpoint, to be exact), does NOT have anything behind it except the Apex, then yes, you have to use the headrest.
(I believe that is correct, right?)

On the Apex display models I've played with at BRU, there also was a warning label on the seat itself about the vehicle seat/vehicle headrest needing to be at least as tall as the mid-point of the child's head, as well as in the manual. This was the case on an older Cosco Apex Alpha Elite display model with a red and black cover and Oct. '05ish DOM, and the newer Alpha Elite model with the brown suede-like cover and EPP foam that came out last fall. I doubt Dorel changed the requirement. AFAIK, they just added EPP foam to the newer models and gave them more confusing names and cover options, sigh.
