Need info from LATCH manual, please

Hi all,

Could someone with a LATCH manual please look up the weight limits for the tether points for Mazda vehicles? We're installing the EZ-On 86-Y Harness and I need to know the limits on the vehicle tether anchors. I called Mazda and got no help at all.

(I've got the higher-weight tether kit for the 86-Y, but I don't want to go through the trouble of installing it if I don't need to right away.)

Thanks!

That's a quick reference list for vehicles. Mazda gives no stated weight limit... which means they defer to the manufacturer's instructions or give no guidance.

Interesting to note that Ford and Mazda are sister companies and Ford does give limits... if you want to err on the side of caution, you could follow those limits if you are more comfortable with that. Ford's are 80lbs limits for harness/vest type restraints.

Argh... yeah, that's all we've found so far, too. So, when they don't specify, what exactly does that mean? Because after actually looking at my car, there is really no way I'm going to be able to install a tether point. Not a very safe or convenient one at least. I'd have to route through two plastic covers (cutting the hole myself) to get the body, and it would be next to or almost under the spare tire.

I think I'm just gonna go with Ford's suggestion limits. 80 lbs give us a lot of time for this kid!

Thanks!
