Recline or no?

We're headed to Arizona tonight...this already freaks me out. We'll leave after I get off work, probably around 5 (this, of course, adds hours to the trip, as we'll be in the midst of rush hour). DS's bedtime is generally 7:30. He will be in pjs, as we're headed straight to bed once we get to the hotel. I suspect that no matter how hard he tries or what video game he is playing, he will be knocked out around 7 (combination of school all day, plus the car ride).

I just reinstalled his ProSport. I moved the headrest up to the highest setting, but I think I'll move it back down. He's slightly under the slot below, sometimes looks even, but by the end of the car ride he's definitely below.

Do you think this looks too upright for a night drive? It just looks super straight to me, and I don't want to be 3 hours into to I-10 and realize we have headflop. Should I use the recline foot?

Does head flop bother him?

I'd recline it a little, maybe recline the seat it's on one or two clicks as well, if your car allows it.

I just took ours off recline mode, trying to get the maximum safety of upright mode and reading that head flop is not dangerous.

I don't think the recline mode made much of a difference with the angle in our Civic. Not enough to prevent head flop anyway. But my kids really sleep when they sleep, lol.

Yes, headflop bothers him once he wakes up. He complains of his neck hurting afterwards.

I originally installed it with the recline in place, but I put it back because it looked like too much. So I put the vehicle seat 2 clicks back, and it seemed to work out fine. He was fallen asleep in it before with no flop. Looks funny, though, since the seat is so wide, he can't lean on one side...we'll be bringing the PillowPet.
