Car seat on airplane and rental car

I have never installed a car seat on an airplane. It will be a Cosco Senera RF. Any tips?
Also-I will have to install it in a rental car. Should I take a pool noodle along just in case?

Try it first in your car, if it needs a pool noodle on your car it might also need it on the rental, if you will need it take it with you, I don't know how the scenera will fit in the airplane RF but I know some one posted a picture of a cocoro RF on the airplane so I know is not impossible and I think the scenera and the cocoro have a similar size

The Scenera often needs a noodle. If you haven't bought it yet you could get the Evenflo Tribute instead, I have found it easier to install than the Scenera.

I'd take the Scenera. Then take either a pool noodle or just take an extra blanket and roll it up under the seat if you need it.

I think I will take the Scenera. Does it have to be level on the plane? Maybe I should just install it FF on the plane. So, I will need to ask for a seatbelt extender?

Plane seats aren't very reclined. You'd probably be ok installing RF w/o a noodle on the plane.

You shouldn't need a seat belt extender since the belt paths of the Scenera are open. You may want one so that the buckle isn't right behind your child's back (FF) or under the legs (RF).

Belt extenders don't change that since one end of the buckle will already be behind the back--at least this is how someone here explained it to me.

I take a folded prefold or two to put behind kiddo's back because the buckle *does* bother him. I've used (clean) pull-ups before, too.
