Ditto.

And I'm kinda ticked, because when DD was tiny, I heard that swaddling could be bad for hip development, so I stopped swaddling her. It never occurred to me that they were talking about some weird way of swaddling, and the way I was doing it was fine.

The 'improper' way is the only way I have ever seen. It's what they did in the hospital and what we did after coming home. I have never seen the 'proper' way. When I google "how to swaddle a baby" every single image that comes up show the straight leg, "improper" swaddle.

That's the only way I have ever seen, as well. The pic in the AAP article shows room to abduct, but every swaddled baby I have seen is a burrito that's snug.

I've always swaddled my babies how they naturally place their legs. As newborns, their legs curl up, so that's the way I left them. As older babies, their legs relaxed a little and weren't curled up much. All of them have been snug though. So, I wonder if I've ever done it "right".

Well I damaged 4 of my kids then... :duck: Except the one that came out already broken LOL :p DD2 was born with bilateral hip dysplasia and spent her first 2.5 years in braces and casts :(
