Vent Another rant about my in-laws' car seat misuse...

I dropped my oldest off at my in-laws' tonight. We have reached a mutual understanding that my kids go nowhere with them unless I install my kids' car seats in their vehicles myself. I was doing just that myself this evening.

I was installing DD1's Frontier and noticed our nephew's seat next to it. It was a Graco ComfortSport installed FF with LATCH and seat belt, LATCH through the RF belt path, non-locking seat belt through the FF belt path, and the top tether looked like it had never been used. I re-installed it myself, holding back tears.

I can *almost* understand people thinking I am crazy for ERF and EH, but I cannot, for the life of me, understand WHY you would even bother using a car seat if you are not willing to read the instructions and at least try to install it the way it was meant to be...

I never said anything to them about my re-install, and am nervously awaiting the backlash...

The thing that would literally drive me insane if I would let it is this...

My older 2 had to spend 3 weeks with my in-laws early this Spring. My youngest was in the NICU, and my husband's ship would not let him come home. I KNOW there is not a chance in Hell that my seats were installed correctly in their vehicles, and my middle was probably not RF.

They weren't in an accident, and my girls were returned to me safely, and there was no other choice. However, it still eats at me...

That would be hard to deal with!

Hope when they see your re install they realize it's the right way! ;)

They probably couldn't figure out how to get the LATCH switched to the ff belt path and didn't know how the seat belt locked. Common problems reading the manual would solve.
