What's the verdict on the HUGE Radian harness pads?

I couldn't find a verdict.
Keep them or take them off?
SK (Diono) sent me new regular ones. So I can use either, I assume.

It's a 5-year-old FF.

Any safety benefit to the HUGE ones? (Oh, and he knows how to position his chest clip and says "arm pit" level, then stretches his arms out, every time he climbs in, lol).

They don't allow the pinch test. I don't like that.

Well, speaking for Canada they are optional for RF, but mandatory for FF.

I'm pretty sure that doesn't apply to US seats, though.

Since SK sent me new regular ones they did OK those, but I want an answer from some others, too.

Totally from a safety standpoint...

Think pads, good for preventing bruising? Or too dangerous b/c of thickness? I'm having trouble seeing my 5-year-old fly out of the harness b/c of them...but that's a concern with thickness I suppose. Opinions?

My concern with them isn't that they inherently make the straps too loose (like a winter coat), but that they make it hard to tighten and impossible to test. So I'm fine leaving them on and tightening enough (my kid thinks they're more comfy), but I worry about the general public which already doesn't tighten enough. I do a pinch test at the back, but that's not possible for FF.
