When do you stop using an expirING seat?

So DD's classic BV in the sitters car expires 11/30/11. I have a classic MA that expires March 2012. In March I could put ODD in a booster in the sitters car and give YDD her RNXTSL. Both seats have been in use for their whole life are not missing parts or been involved in wrecks. When would you stop using them?

I'd only use them in an emergency or until I could afford new seats once expired. No longer than a month at the mostpast the Exp.

Eta- since you have other seats I would not use the seats past the Exp date.

Until around their expiration. I try to have a plan in place and take care of the situation when it's convenient to do so. Not saying you should use them expired, but if you're a working mom whose seats expire Thursday the 14th and you need to go change seats out on a weekend, the seats won't go poof between then and Sat the 16th.

That said, if you have backups and several months' notice, there's no reason not to be proactive and get it taken care of ahead of time - say the weekend before, in my above example.

I'm pretty chill about expiration, to be honest... seats don't disintegrate overnight. So I'm very comfortable using then right up to expiry.

I'd retire the seats on their birthdays.

If I ordered a new seat and it got here a day or two earlier, I'd probably go ahead and use it, and if I had a new seat on its way and it was delayed by a day or two, I'd keep using the expired seat and not run out to BRU to buy a third seat :ducks tomatoes:.

I'd use them up until expiration, esp with Britax which only gives exactly 6 years, unlike other brands that round up to December.

Okay I feel a bit better, I felt a little bad thinking of using them until expiration. But logically I know the BV won't disintegrate immediately on Dec 1. But I like to keep spares for Hubby to use if need be, and I feel like in March I might be more okay with DD1 using a booster FT with the sitter. She's in the sitters car everyday, the sitter picks her up from school. I've been doing some booster training in my car and she does pretty good, I've only had to do a couple reminders. I don't feel comfortable with using a booster on longer rides or at higher speeds...not yet anyway.
