Hi
I am fairly new here. I am a fellow car seat "lover". I do not have children of my own but have do have children in my care and their safety is of the utmost importance to me. My car seats are coming up on expiration but have a little more time. Anyways I am looking to gift a car seat to a family member who I am teaching about proper car seat use. The baby is approx 6 months and weighs about 18lbs, currently in a graco snug ride 22lb. She is one of 5 the others are in boosters and a graco cargo. What would you rec. for her?

That is awesome that you care so much about the kiddos safety! Kudos to you.

What is your budget for the seat? There's a lot of great safe seats in every price range. Also, what vehicle is the seat going in? That may help us recommend the best seat for that vehicle.

She will be passage side in a captains chair in a grand caravan

Price point no higher then 180 I do have a buy buy baby near me and a babiesrus and an old seat for trade in.

myride 65, cosco scerena, evenflo momentum65, are mostly recommended around here for your price range all are great seats.

I like the my ride but it looks really big is it going to fit without having to move to passenger seat?

So 5 kids total.

Booster. Baby.

Booster. Cargo. Booster.

Is that the set-up? Is the 3rd row middle a lap bet only? I'm thinking long term. What happens when the cargo is outgrown? Will the baby need to move back there?

The Myride is wide but takes up little front to back room so it fits surprisingly well in smaller spaces.

It's a booster baby
Booster cargo then no seat

The baby will most likely jump to the cargo when that happens and older child would go to the my ride. Or they will have a new car by then hopefully...

Just took the seat out of the box and it has an aug of 2010 manufacture date? Isn't this not good lol? How many years is the my ride good for?

Yeah, they are good about exchanges. A lot of manufacturers put the DOM right on the box, I can't remember if Graco is one of them.

How old is the cargo? I just know that 3 across our 2003 caravan is a challenge. We have done it. Now I have 2 kids in no seats, its much easier.
