Radian RF boot

So my hubby took Parker's RNXTSL out of his truck today and the RF boot just fell off!...Okay not good...thank goodness he didn't wreck bc im not sure what wouldve happened! Hubby had been telling me that his carseat sounded like something had been rattling and that I needed to check it out...well that must have been it. So I went to put the boot back on and figured out why it fell off...The screw that goes into the little metal piece that holds the boot on (also goes into a spring) was loose....so hubby tightened it up. THis kind of scares me though! I thought last time i was in the truck with them that it seems like his seat was really reclined but didnt think much of it as the RN doesnt install very upright in the truck, well now i'm thinking this is why!

Has anyone else had this happen?

Yes, I've seen several people reporting it on this board. You can report it to NHTSA as a defect; nothing will be done if it's not reported.

Original Radians didn't have a lock to keep the boot on, so it's not a heart-stopping event for me. The seat should be okay without the boot locked in place, though of course I believe your seat should not fall apart.

Yes. It happened to us before. They sent us a new one for free. Report it though.
