I use our MA 70 outboard passenger, RF, using LATCH, in my 2002 Santa Fe. I get a great install. No problem there.
Ideally, I'd love to have her in the middle. If not only for the safety, but that I could load her from either side easily, a huge plus in New Orleans, where it is common to parallel park on either side of the street (lots of one-ways). So the passenger side is also street-side many times.
Problem is, my dog chewed the lap belt half-through when she was a puppy. At a check, they told me I could order a seatbelt or find one in a salvage, and it would be easy to switch it out on my own. Something about that just doesn't sit right with me. Seems like there would be lots of room for error. It goes back to the body shop to replace a broken door handle soon, so l suppose they could put a new one in for me. Or would something like that best be left to a dealership?
Or should I just forget the whole issue and keep it outboard until I get a new car in a year or so?
