Are there any of the backless booster's that have the snap across belly bar that are not expired? Someone posted one on a FS board I am on and I am pretty sure it is expired but I don't want to post unless I know for sure :( I remember I had one for my DS1 who is now 16!!!

There are NEW types, that act differently, but look similar. If it is one of the old ones, it is expired, and may be recalled as well.

she is asking 7.00 for the seat so I highly doubt she bought it within the last few months!! LOL Are they really going to release one that has no shoulder harness like those used to be? It is a NBB that hooks in with the seatbelt and then instead of SBelting it in like boosters it has a belly bar that comes down and attaches. I had one for my now 16yo and in hindsight I am SURE it was not safe!! :D

Yes, the new seat will not have a shoulder harness, but it isn't anything like the old seats other than first glance. Old seats had a gap between child and shield, and the shield was just hard plastic, and didn't come up very high on the child so it didn't really restrain the upper torso. The new seat has a shield that is snug to the child, is covered in impact foam, and goes up to the child's arm pits.

OP, it sounds like the seat you are describing is not only long expired, but likely recalled as well. Old style "Shield Boosters" are dangerous, and responsible for the death and injury of many children.

As has been already discussed, these old shield boosters are NOT to be confused with "European Style" shield boosters, which are not yet (but will soon be) available in the US. Euro style shields are very different in design, and are very safe.

Hope this helps!
