side curtain airbags

Hello,
We are considering buying a new family car and have read about some cars with side curtain airbags in all three rows. What does this mean? Are these safe to have on your car if you have child restraints in the second two rows? How do side curtain airbags compare to the other kind of side airbags which seem to be available only in the front?

A few child restraints may have over-conservative warnings that they may not be placed in any seating position with any type of airbag, so you may want to check your instruction manual. Side airbags can be disabled if necessary.
