Vent Allstate Commercial

Anyone seen the Allstate commercial about the ULTRA-safe parents as it shows their WAY too young baby forward facing, wearing a winter coat with the low chest clip? My 2c, shouldn't an insurance company keep up with NHTSA recommendations?

Maybe it is just me but it makes me NUTS!

As much as they charge they should be able to hire a tech to help with advertising. It's not their first horrible car seat showing. (no offense to anyone who uses alstate, I used them for years)

I actually wrote an email to Allstate regarding this commercial. I even got a response. The lady said they chest clip was there but it moved out of position in the shot and the child was over 2 years old (she even cited a birthdate)plus the car apparently wasn't even moving. :scratcheshead:

I don't really believe her though.

(I'm new around here! Been lurking for years, finally started an account)

Welcome mellysue!

I roll my eyes at this commercial all the time as well as many others. I know DH is really sick of hearing me rant about the "hockey mom" one. Those boys should be in boosters, high backed ones judging by the way they get out of position while they sleep.

That child is not over two, don't they even refer to her as a baby in the commercial?

I've only seen it once, had to wind it back to watch it and I yelled. LOL.

I think an automatic requirement for anyone doing advertising that involves car seats should be to consult a cpst first, or at least have them look at a website with proper use.

I got the eye roll from DH for commenting on a GOOD car seat TV moment. I pointed out to him that Sid the Science Kid was in a high back booster (animated with the head rest too low, but points for even having it at all)...lol. Even a CARTOON got it right so seriously, real companies should be able too.

I don't care how old the kid is. They should follow the car seat manual. That includes proper placement of the chest clip. I don't even care so much that the child is ff. Rf would be better, of course, but I would be thrilled with just proper use.

I tried looking for the commercial on Youtube but couldn't find it. All that came up was the Mayhem baby(which I looove, btw:love:)
I know the response was just that, a response since I emailed someone who doesn't have anything to do with the commercials. I totally didn't believe the child was over 2 either. And the fact that they called the parents uber safe or super safe just really made me mad!

Caillou on Nick Jr (cartoon) has a younger sibling (or maybe it's him? It's been awhile since I've seen it). Anyway, whoever it is rides in an overhead shield FF. Thumbs down.
