Graco My Ride - cover?

I am looking at replacing a soon-to-expire Marathon, and am thinking of the Graco My Ride (because of the cup holders and good overall reviews, and it's relatively cheap for how long it lasts - we have no cup holders in our middle row and it's been a point of contention!)

I have never had anything other Britax (Boulevard, Marathon, and Regent) seats (well, except for infant seats). We love our Britaxes, except it is a pain that you have to uninstall and totally take apart the seat to wash the cover. I have heard that some seats you can remove the cover without uninstalling the seat, and I was wondering the My Ride is like that? I couldn't find that info anywhere.

I belive the new generation of Britax's have easier to remove covers. I'm not certain about that, though. I think the My Ride cover removal is about the same as the old Britax's. I'm not sure, but I think the Evenflo Triumph 65 and maybe the First Years True Fit have easier to remove covers.

The My Ride is still a great seat at a great price. Is there a store nearby that has both so you can check them out in person? Sometimes you just have to check it out to see which one you like better, as well as check to make sure the seat is compatible with your car.

Can you give us a little more information about the height, weight and age of the child? And the vehicle the seat will be going in? It may help narrow down the recommendations a bit more.

If it's rearfacing then yes it can be removed without uninstalling it. I've done it :) Some cars it might be a little harder depending on how hard it's pressed against the seat, but I'm able to pull it back enough to pull the cover off.
You do have to take the harnesses off the splitter plate to remove it so you wouldn't be able to do it without uninstalling if it's FFing.

Yes! That would be great... I don't have the love for car seat shopping that some of you do ;) Actually, I hate it (which is why I just stuck with what we had - Britax - before)

This is for a 19 month old (don't know his weight right now because we are late for his 18 mo appt but he's always 50th-60th percentile) RFing in a captain's seat middle row of an Expedition, until he's old enough for the Regent and his soon-to-be-born brother will get it after that, when he's out of the infant seat.

I have the Zurich cover for the SnugRide, and was really liking the My Ride Streamer cover (the girls have the Mariposa Marathon/Regent in the back). So IF the seat has a brown/green/tan color scheme that would make me happy :p

DH installs my seats and I almost never mess with them, so it doesn't have to be super easy to install, BUT being able to wash the covers without un-installing would be soooo nice. Right now it doesn't really matter, but when Baby Brother has this seat FFing when he's older (I would prefer for it to last him until he has a booster - so at least a 6 year expiration) the cup holders would be GREAT, because we don't have cup holders in our middle row (that kids can reach) and with my older kids that's been an issue.

Thanks!!

I've taken the cover off our FF Marathon installed in the captain's chair by reclining the seat back enough to reach the splitter plate in the back and remove the harness straps from the splitter plate, then putting the seat back fully upright when the cover is back on, without un-installing the seat, other than loosening the top tether. I don't know if that would be officially ok'd by a tech or not? I did check the install after to make sure it was the install was still ok.

Hopefully a tech will set me straight if this is not ok. :)
