Britax Frontier in booster mode

My husbands car is a 2003 chevy Tahoe. This car has not been very car seat friendly since day one. We have always struggled getting seats installed. Well, now we are dealing with the Frontier in the booster mode. The seatbelt shuts up under the arm rest od the car seat and doesn't lay right. We figured out that the actual buckle is too far back behind the seat. My husband and I have both been in car seat classes (both in EMS) and we know that what is going on is not the way it should be. So...he wants to buy a "Buckle Booster". The only info I have found so far is only on their website.

These things can't be safe, can they?

I really can spell - typing on the iPad drives me crazy...

The seatbelt gets bunched up and stuck under the arm rest of the car seat.

No, they're not safe. If the belt doesn't work, then a new booster is in order. Or a new position within the car.
