We'll be traveling in October with my son who'll be 15 months, weight unknown, but probably around 20-22lbs. He will have his own seat on the plane and I need a convertible that will be easy to fly with and install easily in random rental car.
We already have a TFP for him but there's no way I'm taking that on the plane. We don't need another carseat but will buy one just for this trip and future trips.
I've heard that the Scenera is a good option for travel, but has a 22lb FF limit. DS, may or may not be 22lbs by then. FF would probably be easier on the plane, even though he will be RF in the car.
Are there any other low cost options that would work for our situation?

Also, he won't drop toys down onto the floor that could roll under the seat. He'd also be facing you, which could help keep him happy. The greater recline angle might also make him more comfortable and more likely to fall asleep on the plane.
