Radian Successful Install Thread

2nd row, passenger side, RF using LATCH. Not tethered. Rock-solid, easy install. Following Defrost's instructions, I even got it at a reasonable recline (i.e. not 45 degrees).

Not checked by a tech.

I haven't tried it in any other positions, or tried it FF for that matter.

I was able to get a seat FF and RF outboard. RF, the seat in front had to be moved forward some. Not the easiest installs, but they do go in solidly.

Installing in the center seat was a bear. I couldn't get the seat in RF at all, to get it FF I had to switch seat belt buckles (see my thread titled "Radian 80 Pictures").

All installs were with a seat belt, FF was with tether. I couldn't find anywhere to tether to RF.

ETA: not checked by a tech

1999 Chevrolet Silverado Extended Cab
FF installed outboard with lap/shoulder belt
FF installed center with lap belt and tether
( I was finally able to get a good install in the center by shortening the belt before I buckled it in and then flipping the latchplate to prevent it from slipping.)

2004 Dodge Neon
FF installed center with lap/shoulder belt and tether
FF installed center with LATCH

Edit: This seat has been checked by a tech.

1993 GMC Suburban, all in middle row,
FF drivers side, seatbelt & tether, rock solid
RF passenger side, seatbelt and tether, rock solid, a bit of a PITA though

couldn't get an acceptable install in center position (ALR lap only)

Front-facing, LATCH (outboard)

comments: getting the latch tight enough is a bit of a PITA, as the buckle comes in contact with the base and limits the exit angle of the strap from the latch belt (and hence how much leverage you have to tighten the strap); but with one person pushing down on the seat and rocking left/right, and the other pulling up, you can get quite a secure fit.

Front-facing, LATCH (outboard)

comments: similar issues to the Jetta, but it seemed to be somewhat easier to tighten

2007 Chevy Cobalt - FF Installs

fits best outboard - FABULOUS rock solid install with latch OR seatbelt in either outboard seat.

Center is tricky but doable... must twist down buckle stalk for seatbelt, climb into the Radian, after getting tight as possible.. unbuckle seatbelt... let it retract some, then rebuckle.

Install still isn't GREAT, but it's acceptable

all installs done with top tether.

I had to have a professional do this install. I couldn't get it tight enough my self.

All installs were forward facing only.

Easy perfectly rock solid ffing install center. No tricks took less than 3 min.

Outboard ffing install acceptable (1/2 inch movement). Over the cover, recline mode twisted female end 2.5 times.

I didn't try rfing.

Ff'ing driver outboard - twisted buckle stalk 3 times
Rf'ing passenger outboard - twisted buckle stalk 3 times (room for me to be safe distance from airbag in front seat.)

Both installs rock solid with little effort. Top tether hard to tighten once the ff'ing seat was installed.
Car had leather seats, and lightweight locking latchplates. The LLP worked like a dream.
(this car didn't have LATCH)

I'm a tech
