Hi! My friend recommended me to this website. My son is 6 1/2 months old, and is 18lbs. and 28in. Our infant seat (Graco Snugride) only goes up to 29in. (his feet are almost already going over!). My husband and I have a 2007 and 2011 Honda Accord. I'm 5'9" and my husband's 6'4", so our son is going to be very tall, and most likely normal weight. I've been reading through some posts on here, and am trying to figure out the best convertible car seat for both of our cars. Money is a big factor for us (obviously safety is too), so Britax seems to be out of the question. I was looking into the Safety 1st Alpha Omega Elite, but a lot of people seem to feel negatively about it. I don't care what brand it is, as long as it fits, preferably with leg room left for us in the front, and doesn't cost over $200. Any advice will be greatly appreciated! =)

Welcome.

Our infant seat (Graco Snugride) only goes up to 29in. (his feet are almost already going over!).

That's fine. His feet can go over. Think of what will happen in his convertible as he's three and four years old. His feet will go up the backseat. What matters with his height is that he has more than 1" of shell above his head. If he has, and he's not yet 22 pounds, then he still fits in the seat.

The AOE makes a decent rear facing seat, though if you follow the line level to the ground you won't be able to fit it behind you and your husband. It makes a so so forward facing seat, and a lousy deadly booster. You can do better economically. I'd look at the Graco My Ride, Evenflo Triumph 65, Learning Curve True Fit, and Britax Roundabout 55.

You can find some great deals online so I wouldnt rule a seat out just due to price, especially if the first place you checked price is BRU. The MyRide is on sale right now though at BRU for around $100 and I think theres a coupon you can use; at least according to my SIL.

The Britax fit well in smaller cars, wont last until booster age probably unless your child is mostly leg height. I am 5'9 and my daughters Britax Marathon, very similar to a Roundabout, fits fine in the Ford Focus I drive.

My niece has an AOE, and I hate it. Its big, its hard to install, and I camt do 3 across with it. My SIL really regrets buying it.

Thanks for the feedback! @Wendy - I was considering the True Fit as well. The AOE is definitely out. Thanks so much!

@Kaitsmom - You're 100% right, it's on sale for $99.99, and I just got a 20% off coupon in the mail today for BRU. BUT, it says for one "regular-priced baby item" only. *sigh* Always a catch! I found a website (albeebaby.com) that seems to have good prices though, so I'm going to check them out. Thanks again!

I have a 07 honda accord and have tried a britax boulavard in the center and behind the passenger seat rear facing and it fit well. it fits between the front seats in the middle and leaves decent room in the other spots I am 5ft 10in so were round the same height. I know u said this was out of ur price range so I would look into the marathon or other britax models that are on sale on the internet since they would instal similary. just remember that you cannot use the lower anchors in the center youll have to use you seat belt at least for the 07 not sure bout the 11. try out the seat belt instal before you buy cuz I didnt do that.

Someone on another biard im on said they used a coupon in the flier from the Sunday paper and got the extra 20% off. Just in case you have one laying around, she bought hers in the store.
