Is it possible to remove the LATCH straps from my XTSL without cutting/wrecking anything?

We are traveling and I don't have LATCH in the cars we will be in, and its anoying to have the LATCH straps on there carrying it through the airport.

They store in the back of the shell. There are 2 little spaces that they click into.

I do keep them in their storage spots, but the metal adjuster hits me right in the back of the head when I wear it as a backpack, plus, despite rubber banding/stuffing the excess strap, it always manages to come undone and get in the way.

The only way to remove it is to cut it. That's not an issue, though, as long as you don't cut the LATCH strap itself.

But don't lose it! The RA50 LATCH strap was annoying the heck out of me transferring it from DH's car to my car, etc. so I cut it off and left the LATCH strap in his car. DH tossed it into my car without my knowledge and mixed it with retired LATCH straps that I keep around to use as tie downs in the cargo area. So now my RA50 has no LATCH. Oops!

I ended up leaving it on for this trip. I'm going to see what car we get first (my sister drove the jeep to tahoe to replace the subaru we keep here, so now we again only have 1 car that can hold a carseat in florida, so we might get another for me!)

If we end up with a car I can use LATCH on, I might not cut it. I do have 2 seats though so I guess it doesn't matter that much, I use one just for travel/spare. I'm worried about using LATCH in the first place on that seat after it loosened in a rental car, and I do have a spare non-super LATCH set they sent me.

Wish it didn't have to be cut! Oh well, I'll figure it out later, I might just get a MT and keep one XTSL here so I don't have to travel with a seat anymore!
